West Virginia License Plate Highs, 1976-date

This table lists the highest letter block series I've confirmed for each expiration month in each year since the graphic map base was introduced in 1976, thus providing a means of tracking the progression of each series over time.

Numbering for each month proceeded from xA-1001 to xZ-9999, then from xAA-101 to xZM-999 (using A through M only in the third position) and finally from xAN-101 to a theoretical high of xZZ-999 (although no month got this far, and some didn't even exceed xZM). Numbering restarted when the current license plate series was introduced for 1996 and proceeded in a similar fashion, although the entire series from A through Z began to be used in order regardless of position circa 2000.

A question mark indicates that a license plate from the indicated letter block has been confirmed with the indicated year sticker, but I do not know whether or not it is a natural validation.
